Happy New Year

I’m sitting in my office at home. Mia the Wonderdog is curled up behind my chair chewing her paw. A very pregnant Kim is sitting in the living room watching some Lifetime TV movie with Jennifer Aniston. Wow, what an exciting afternoon I’m having right? It probably sounds pretty boring and mundane, I know.

It makes me think how truly blessed I am this year.

I started 2007 gearing up to be a part of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. It was a freelance gig, and I was excited about the opportunity to get on the red carpet. Following the SBIFF I started to hear rumblngs about a full-time job with MediaTrust doing pretty much what I’d done for the festival. Then, on May 1st I started my new role heading up the “Search and Social Media Optimization Division.” Just about that time Kim and I learned that she was pregnant.

It was turning out to be quite a year.

Throughout the summer we started looking for a new place to live. Being in our beach apartment for the previous year had been a blast, but it wasn’t going to be big enough for our new family. In August we found a great house in an area of Santa Barbara known as “The Mesa” and moved in shortly after that.

Since then we’ve vacationed in Newport Beach with my parents, spent our anniversary in San Francisco and Half Moon Bay, and gone back east to visit my family for Thanksgiving. There have been trips to Vegas and Ontario, CA with Brian, and several business trips to New York and Toronto. To say that we’ve been busy this year would be an understatement.

As I look back over this year, I realize we’ve had almost as many good life changes as one can possibly have – a new baby girl is on the way, I have my dream job, and we’ve moved to a new home. I’m thankful for my many blessings every day.

I want to wish each of you a happy and prosperous new year. For those that have had a good year, I congratulate you. For those that are a bit down on their luck – keep the faith. I think back only a handful of years ago when there were some pretty dark times in my life. I often wondered if I’d ever find true happiness. It’s amazing what can happen with a lot of hard work, a positive attitude, and some luck. :)

Finally, thank you all for you continued interest in what I do. Without you all tuning in each week, AC is simply me talking to myself in a microphone. The emails you send and the comments you leave keep me motivated to carry on with this silly little experiment of a podcast.

Well, Kim’s movie has ended and Mia is up and about wandering the house. I need to finish up some dinner prep and get ready to welcome our dinner guests for our New Year’s Eve gathering. I’ll leave you with quote from the great philosopher Bret Michaels:

“I raise a toast to all of us, who are breaking our backs everyday. If wanting the good life is such a crime, lord then put me away. Here’s to ya!”
