OK, late in catching up on all my AC's this week while on business travel. I had to share that this eposide caused me to abruptly laugh on the plane (Brian's gonna get it), and I spat a piece of a wheat thin on the jacket of the passenger across the aisle. Ironic with your great (yet painful) travel stories. Thanks and keep up the awesome shows.

I'm glad you liked Toronto!! I'm from Ontario originally. Next time you go, try to go in the fall and head up to Muskoka. Muskoka is where I grew up and it's famous for it's beautiful fall leaves. You'll probably even see a moose!!

I'm 27, so the Cuban missile crisis was waaaay before my time but I knew what it was since 4th grade and knew pretty much everything there was to know about including the politics behind it by the time I was 12.

The funny thing is I'm a Korean, and as far as I know Korea was not even remotely involved in that incident.

The fact that someone working for the president of the most powerful nation on earth doesn't have a grip on their own history, and finds that something to be amusing, really worries me to say the least.

There's a difference between reading a list of words and using those words in conversation. If you've spent any time with teenagers, you know how they will try to make exceptions out of every rule: "you never said we couldn't walk on the walls before...it's not in the rule book." I think the nun was just being thorough so the children would understand the rules. She wasn't explaining what the words meant or using them in context.

I do really enjoy your show. I found it accidently on the Itunes radio station listings. By the way, I took your advice and followed you on twitter. My handle is cre8tivewmn.

Kasey - totally agree with your point. I'm doing a phd at the moment, and teach the undergrads at my university, my biggest annoyance is the girls, who walk around giggling and making out like they just don't get it.
This sort of stuff shouldn't be still happening, but I guess thanks to the fact that 'its ok' for even the press secretary for the White House not to know about really important historical occurrences, because she's only a little girl, the situation won't be changing anytime soon.

Josh,

Come on man - growing up my parents told me things I shouldn't do or say, they didn't have to actually DO it for me to get the point. In fact, name one thing that parents typically tell their kids NOT to do, then they go ahead and act it out?

The nun was not "Using" the Words in the way they are normally used, and I am sure that none of the kids can claim ignorance like "I did not know that was a swear word".
Also kids hear words and with out being told that they are swear words they are likely to repeat them, usually at the most awkward and inappropriate times.

As a kid I did not know what the "N" word meant and I can’t even remember where I heard it but I do remember the day that my mom heard me use it for the first time, her reaction surprised me and I have never used it since.

The Dana Perino story seemed to me to be an example of a woman saying "see, I'm stupid...isnt that cute?" I've seen many otherwise intelligent women act this way and I just despise it. Why do they think ignorance is a thing to be proud of? Why does society reinforce this belief? I just don't get it.....
