Bush Vetoes Healthcare Bill for Children
Dubya is back at it again. Today he vetoed a bill that would have expanded healthcare for children of low income families. The bill had bipartisan support. The total cost of the program would have equaled only one month’s spending in Iraq. To me this bill seems to have been a no-brainer – oh wait, this is Bush we’re talking about.
You can read the story at CNN here.

So… Why is it that you hat Bush? He makes decisions based on what the majority of the people expect him to do. It’s obvious that most of the nation thinks it is appropriate that we are in Iraq. Perhaps Bush is a puppet, but he’s likely smarter than you. He’s the president – you’re a dude that talks and knows how to ruffle feathers. Just a thought.

Oh, almost too easy….
Do your research before you spout off shit “Ty.” The majority of the nation does not think we should be in Iraq and hasn’t for many months. The fact that you think that because he’s the president equates with smarts show how much of a dolt you are.
I am all for dissenting opinion, in fact it’s what makes this show fun for me, but do your research before you open your mouth.
Move along troll.

my thoughts when i read this article were pretty much what you’re saying, scott. i dont know enough about this issue to have an opinion. do i think the president is dumb? naturally. but that doesn’t mean there isn’t more to this than meets the eye. if it were as simple as “do we want to provide health care for children?” i think everyone would say yes. i dont think the article did a very good job on educating us common folk about what the real issues are. way to go, corporate sponsored media.
but scott is right. ty is just flapping his own feathers.

Scott,
I agree with you 99%. I give you 1% of being wrong. (thats just my margin of error.) Of my experience, being in and around people who are directly affected by the war. (i.e solders and the families who support them.) They would much rather see the money that Bush is authorizing go to the kids and families of this country. (Primarily their own kids who are the reason a lot of them are over there in the first place.) Than a place where it is not making much difference. (And who would be glad to see us go home.) No matter how much money we spend on anything over here the war will never or some may say always be under funded. it is not like we’ll cut the solders and the military off. It is much easier to pick on the ones who can not fight back. it is people like TY who can not see the big picture that will ultimately hurt their neighbor.
On the other hand, it is people like you, Scott, who at least care enough to state your opinion and ruffle a few feathers. Ultimately it is up to all of us to take a stand and voice our opinions.
The big thing about our smart President is he stopped listening to the actual majority and is focusing on where his paycheck is coming from. (He is going to be out of a job here soon.) It has been said if you fix the things at home the other stuff will take care of it self. Bush should take that to hart. Fixing heath care is just a part of the puzzle. Short sided people like Ty and Mr. Bush have lost their common sense. Where we, (not to blow my own horn.) are at least trying to fight back for what is morally right.
So TY, get a brain, some common sense, and look before you trip over your tung. (not to bad mouth your intelligence. stupid) Great show Scott (you smart, smart man) keep up the good fight. Oh, was this fiery enough for ya.

I don’t mean to imply that it’s as simple as saying yes to healthcare for children. I know there is more to it than that. My frustration is that Bush vetoed something that had bipartisan support, so it clearly had merit to both sides, and for the cost of a single month in Iraq could’ve funded this program. This was not meant to be a Troops vs. children debate. I was simply point out that we piss away money in Iraq for no gain.
Anyway, thanks for the conversations!

Scott,
I saw this one coming about a week ago. I read something about this on msn saying he was going to veto it. There was a small tiff between democrats and republicans that caused him to veto this bill. I think he was trying to prove a point. No matter if your democrat, republican, liberal, black, white, purple, green or orange the universal message should be protect or children first and foremost. It is not their fault they were born poor but yet why do we punish them? I mean what is going to happen with the health care now? I mean how many millions don’t have health insurance? The answer is solved in three simple steps: first, lets bring our forces home; second stop the war; third spend the money on health care.

Hey Scott
Reading the replies to this, and your own thoughts on this subject, I hope that our friend Chris, from last week, is taking notice.
An issue such as this, and the debate your site incites from your listeners, is proof enough that the fire in your belly still rages for those ideals you feel so strongly about.
I know, from being a listener for some time, that you are a passionate and committed person, and I, as always, wish you all the credit you deserve.
Thank you for always being willing to state your views, and willing to take on board other peoples’ considerations.
Regards as always.

Hey Scott,
Sorry, I didn’t read the last few because they just got too long and I am already listening to your newest show and it seems this conversation may already be over. I believe Bush had to veto it because of all the other “pork” that was tied to it. I’m not positive but still pretty sure. The media is obviously going to only show this side….that’s what sells ad time. research, research, research….if congress uses these “happy, feel good” bills to attach their “worthless” extra stuff to, then they will pass through a lot easier. Bush stood up for it and said no….send it back to me with just the health care and we’ll look at it that way. Be careful with this healthcare stuff. we don’t want the government regulating our health care or how much doctors are paid.
