One Listener’s Thoughts…
I got this email a few minutes ago from a listener named Chris:
Scott,
Been digging the show for about a year and a half now, but I have to say that it seems like some things aren’t the same anymore. Shorter shows, filler content / interviews, the recent long police officer segment, etc.
I feel like you had more anger, spunk, fire, even aggression when I first listened in. (Which is why I listened in!)
Maybe it’s the new job, the moving, or all the traveling, but as a fan I thought you’d appreciate an honest assessment of the show right now. I’d love to hear more of your thoughts on the stories and news like shows of past, instead of the 5 segments you seem pressed to include, and the monologues on your busy schedule to begin the shows.
I liked this show when it felt real and you were putting your all into it. I kind of wonder if you are still doing that now, or if you feel like you have to at this point? Would love to hear your thoughts. Does that seem reasonable?
Best,
Chris
Does he have a point? I’ll discuss this on this week’s show.
Also, look for a new ACTV tonight covering the PNME.

Hi Scott
I must admit Chris does have a point but hey you are doing a great job at the moment what with ALL the things going on - GREAT NEWS ABOUT THE BABY by the way ACTV 4 was a joy to watch (One proud dad to another).
Sometimes we need to evolve after all you did mention you wanted to shake things up a bit i.e. try new things etc.
You only have to listen to AC from the start to see the journey it has been on ………….
Anyho still listening to you from about AC 40 ish frm the good old UK
Keep the flag flying
P.S. The bloopers on ACTV 5 made me laugh so hard

Hi Scott-
I will say that I think its great that Chris felt like he could be honest and that you are so welcoming to all of our feedback.
I am a relatively new listener. I started listening early this summer when I moved to NYC and started work as an architect. Long hours in front of a computer demand some audio entertainment. I have been listening to old shows, but havent quite made it through all of the episodes…YET.
I listen to 3 podcasts, and obviously yours is one of them, and I am hooked. I am trying to get my husband to listen, and he wants to know why (before he will give it a chance). I rack my brain to understand why I enjoy your show so much, and I think that what I like about it is sort of what bothers your listener, Chris. I like the monologues at the beginning. I like hearing about your life, especially news about the baby and Kim. But I am a female listener, so I think that is why I like that part.
I like hearing about someone trying to make it, someone looking for success in what they love, someone struggling with everyday life. Not to say that you are struggling, per se, but when you were looking for a house, I totally felt your pain. Coming from NYC, you are preaching to the choir.
Anyway, in Chris’s defense, I will say that the segments that get you fired up and angry are some of the most entertaining, and I think all of your listeners dig that.
Thanks for all the effort, would love to hear more (I’m sure you get that all the time), but i think your show is great!

Everyone Except Scott,
Has the show changed? Yes. Was the changed motivated and logical, absolutely. Don’t mistake evolution with anything else. I feel Scott has done his best over the years to not only provide dependable and entertaining content that makes you think each week, he’s also thought ‘big picture’ in creating not just a weekly podcast, but more of, for lack of a better word, a legacy. You see, you guys didn’t hear the frustration in his voice when the live show with the three of us didn’t work for episode 100 attempt after attempt. You have no idea how much money he’s put into his studio at home, he talks a little about it, but doesn’t share everything…and maybe he doesn’t want to but there you go. He’s done the show sick, traveling, during moves, early pregnancy, and also during a very extensive career move–the likes of which took me right out of the game and all I ever did was provide 3 minutes, he does 30.
I’d like to think after these years, I know Scott as well as a person can without ever actually sharing the same air. And I know Scott will NEVER phone it in, he’ll never take up space, and he’ll never cheapen what he’s built here at American Cliche.
Still a fan,
Jason (with the big fat opinion)

Hi Scott: Hi Scott, I am writting from Costa Rica (Central America). Don’t listen to those unhappy idiots like Chris that only want to give you a hard time. I personally love your show and to know about your life and stuff and sometimes I listen the program like 3 times a week. Thanks for taking the time to put all this stuff together so we can enjoy your histories, your news and all the complete show. By the way your accent it’s so clear and easy to understand. Hang in there that we, your truly fans, won’t let you down.
