wow, i just saw it and wanted to say great job, it was cool.
i always thought that scott was blond, he sounded like one,:S hehe, any ways,, very nice.
March 15th, 2007 at 9:38 am
Thanks for the comments Sofia. As for me being blond, nope. I’m more “shiny” than blond
Also, I’ve received a few emails from folks already telling me what I could do to improve the show. First off, let me say that this sin’t suppoed to look like Entertainment Tonight. My goal for this show was to be sort of a behind the scenes video diary shot in my studio. In the coming weeks I will try and spruce up the backgroiund and make it more visually interesting. I am also aware that the audio had a bit of echo to it. That was because of a stupid mistake I made. It will hopefully be corrected next time.
Oh, and I received a commet that said they hated the intro. I rather like the intro. It’s short and gives you a visual snapshot of my life. I’m not trying to be the evening news with the fancy CGI intro…
Anyway, thanks for the feedback and for checking out the first ACTV. The next few will probably be shot from the road so they’ll be very different.

Just wanted to say …I don’t think gays should be in the military openly – we know they will get harassed by big tough guys ..with ego problems and then other straight guys would feel uncomfortable and even question the man’s capability to hold a gun and shoot people to live. Why do I say this sort of thing ..my brother is bi…has a very gay side to him – he can’t throw a football – sorry but it is what it is ..I have nothing against him and he himself doesn’t have anything against the idea of not having gays in the military (he even supports it) – but lesbians I would be more likely for it because now they are tougher…do you catch what I’m saying – you have to have tough skin to be in the military unless your in a office position – sensitivity will cause mental disorder as my sister and her fiance have seen plenty of when they were in Iraq. I do understand its not fair and we would like everyone to have access to protect our country – but not all of us can manage it – not everyone has the same mentality – we are not all built the same, some things I want to do but can’t (god made us what we are so just accept there are some things we won’t be able to do for our own good of nature of the human beast), but maybe its just protecting the idea of realism on tough skin – I have seizure’s and I’m not allowed to join the military – and its completely controled for over 5 years but still a no go. Is that fair? again protecting the idea of what would be the consequences if we would allow it. I had to set my case on this one because I’m a military brat with a gay brother so I see sides probably much better than most. As for the political attacks on gays …my brother doesn’t even care – even if it is morally wrong ..there are ways around to make what you want to a better world your own style – we live in a republic not so much a democracy – so keep that in mind and kinda set your own goals rather putting your faith in someone else who is SUPPOSE TO represent your idea’s ..its just not gonna happen. I think with that mindset …many folks don’t vote, its unfortunate. TOUGH SKIN MY BROTHER …KEEP UP THE FREE SPEECH.

bi – polar is very real …had enough relationships around people who have it. It causes emotional distress – uncontrolable emotions – depressed for no real true reason or just flip out and get really pissed. As for the decision making part …I wouldn’t really blame bi-polar as the reason – I’m betting its more the fact he was a good saleman and pressured her into buying it and she was weak as in the saying of “NO” which is understandable …it’s harder to say no than to say yes – I think it was her not her disease. I doubt bi-polar was the reason I don’t think it causes a inability to make a decision – it just affects your emotions to a tremondous amount – my recommendation, kinda becareful around them – you can never predict what they will do. Just my thought …i’m paul with the mighty email…laters..oh hey check out my conversation with george bush on youtube its kinda sloppy editing but might make you laugh …http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcOI3lO-sNs ok laters

wow that was awesome. Great content that really would not have been as good without the video or pictures, very proffesional. I can’t wait for the next one.
March 15th, 2007 at 4:30 pm
Great job! The visual element adds a lot. Those monsters were scary.
March 15th, 2007 at 6:37 pm
Great episode. It is a little weird to put a face to the voice I’m so used to from the Podcast. Still, I really really enjoyed it.
Any pics of Mia?
March 15th, 2007 at 7:09 pm
Great show, it was 1000% better than expected and you turned my week from a bad one to a very good one. So are we going to be able to see Kim, Bryan, Jason and Mia the wonder dog now? Love the show as always and the monsters were so very funny.
March 15th, 2007 at 8:09 pm
Hey Scott,
Only problem is: ITunes made it all fraggy….very low refresh rate, so I checked on AC.NET….I guess I’m coming here to watch the show every week (you planned it that way to get more people coming didn’t ya?) About those crazy Japanese, haven’t you ever watched MXC (on Spike TV)? Those guys do crazy stuff there too….
Wonderful shows this week…both of them! I was so surprised to see ACTV in my ITunes when I went to it tonight….had to watch it with my son…
Keep up the wonderful show, my wife and I listen to it every week.

I have to say Mia is adorable
Other than that, great visuals for the news items, and I hope to see more coming!
March 16th, 2007 at 12:04 am
Nice work. Love the Japanese game shows. They really find great humor in hitting each other over here. looking forward to next show.
March 16th, 2007 at 5:20 am
REally great show. Kinda werid to finally see your face Scott. Though I would like for the tranition of stories to be a little bit smoother if you get what I mean.
March 16th, 2007 at 9:03 am
Thanks for all the comments everyone. I really do appreciate them.
Shots of Mia may very well be in the future. Probably some stuff of Brian as well. It really all depends on how much access I have to him. Jason is way out in Indy and my travels, unfortunately, don’t take me there very often. So, Jason would have to provide a clip. As for Kim, and I quote: “There’s no way in hell you’re getting me on that thing.” She’s a bit shy.
Hope you all have a great weekend.

I know you’ve comeneted before that the head on the website was you, but i didnt believe it. For some reason it just didnt fit, but watching you do the news stories and hearing your voice corrected the err in my head.
The show was awesome keep it up, it helps me get over the hump midweek.
March 16th, 2007 at 4:43 pm
Nice show!

hmmm ted haggart, fundamentalist bullshit/brainwashing.
March 18th, 2007 at 8:50 am
I’ve always listened to your show since I found it last year in September. I live in Japan and I’m a Japanese.
I love this show Scott!! Keep on making good stuff. I like the CTV too.
March 18th, 2007 at 8:56 am
I forgot to leave a comment on the Japanese gameshow you put on ACTV. Sometimes Japanese comedians are so harsh to get laughs from the others like hitting the other comedians something like that. Is this kind of making laughs by hitting others accepatable in therms of comedians in the US?
March 18th, 2007 at 9:10 am
I Cant wait threw out the week to listen to you on wednesday cuz i know you do this every tuesday. I Liked/Loved the Actv :D. Wish it was longer
March 18th, 2007 at 11:45 am
It is funny that people don’t think the guy on the top of the site is me…you can now I wasn’t lying
As for the show being longer, it would take too long to produce, plus I think people’s attention span for video is shorter than it is for audio. With the regaular audio podcast you can listen to it while you commute to work, workout, or wherever…it;s a more passive experience. Video though is more interactive and needs more of your attention. I think 5 minutes is about the limit…future shows may even be in the 3-4 minute range. It all depends on what I have to say that particular week.

Hey, good job with the video. I’ve been enjoying the weekly podcasts for a few months now, and I’m hoping that if the video episodes become a big success that you still continue to do the radio show. I listen to your program while I’m at work, and I can’t do that with the videos.
Also, one concern I have about the risk of using videos from the web is that many of them are already known to the more savvy netizens. Sites like ebaumsworld.com, collegehumor.com, milkandcookies.com, etc get a lot of attention and I’d hate to see american cliche just be a form of repeating material that is already featured on sites like those. Because currently, I think the radio program does a good job of finding stories and articles that aren’t quite as widely distributed across the net. For example the japanese game show clip is something I recall seeing long ago.
That said, the episode was still good and I think it will be a success. Keep up the good work.
March 18th, 2007 at 10:36 pm
Taylor,
The radio show is not going away. That is my bread and butter. That is established and will continue. The video is experimental at this point. As for sstories being seen elsewhere, of course that will be the case. By and large I don’t think my audience is the type that scours ebaumsworld and collegehumor.com to find stories…there are exceptions of course.
Anyway, each week will be a different with ACTV…and, it maay not even be weekly. Could be bi-monthly or even monthly if I get busy whereas the radio show will be each week like clockwork.

I can’t play it at work – it just doesn’t work, shows the player being broken – can you make it available to media player? I have trouble with apple software on many microsoft operated programs – when I do video on my phone and download it to my computer I’m unable to convert the 2gp format to a version that is reliable to upload to youtube or myspace – or in fact be get edited in most movie editors. I think the visual is better quality on apple software but that sucks up alot of mb at that sometimes – I wonder if I should get a apple? I probably can play it at home, but I’m in the market of making video’s for local bands in the chicago area to get them heard so I don’t spend alot of time looking at other’s content when I’m developing my own…I dunno …just would like to see the content while at work that’s all I’m asking. Sounds good. laters

Paul,
Sometimes I get the sense that you are having a conversation with yourself via the comments and that the rest of us don’t need to be there.
Quicktime is a pretty ubiquitous platform. It is native on all Macs and can be easily downloaded for PCs. In fact, if you have iTunes on a PC, you have Quicktime. You are also the first person that has told me there is a problem playing it…
Anyway, keep that conversation going and let us know how it turns out!

First time posting here, generally just listen to the podcasts. Was pretty cool to watch the first video podcast. Fairly smooth effort and segwayed pretty closely with the normal ‘casts. Really impressed. Just hope it doesn’t affect the standard ‘casts as I use them to zone out of what’s happening around me at work, nice easy listening while I’m working (and yes, I read your previous reply, but still a bit unsure). Unfortunately can’t do that with the video casts for obvious reasons. Though saying that it would be great if they were kept this short ‘cause that wouldn’t be too bad and would be able to fit them in during breaks (just).
Just to let you know I’m a big fan. Don’t necessarily always agree with the politics, but you always discuss them in such a way that its great to listen to you and your mates. Also seeing american news from your point of view, rather than from an oz or brit point of view is great. Keep it up mate.

Scott,
Love you and your show!
The TV show is a great idea! Only one thing, and you know this already.
Acoustic treatment in that room or close mic placement. A little bit of an early reflection (Reverb) happening.
Thanks, If I’m ever in town, We’ll do a happy hour!

Hi Scott!
Very nice to see some A/C/T/V and I did not read any comments here, but the only thing I would suggest is to place a mic on (under) your shirt.
One thing in your radio show, and why I listen a lot is because your voice has a huge impact on me and some things that you talk about are very passionate and if you could translate that to you t.v. show it would be much more effective. I think the natural re-verb in that small room compensate your beautiful tone. (I’m not gay)
Those edits are very harsh and will improve with experience but funny none the less: A++
!!

Dave,
My suggestion to you (and this translates to good life advice as well) – read or listen to what’s been said before you comment on something. The audio thing has been covered ad nauseum here.
And the edits… do you know anything about modern video production techniques? I’m guessing you do not.
Thanks for listening to the show and don’t worry, commenting on how much you like someone’s voice doesn’t make you gay.
