NBC Tech Now!
A few months ago I was approached by a company called SpotDJ to record some “DJ breaks” for their new product. It is an app that works with iTunes and while you’re listening to your music library will insert prerecorded segments between songs about the artist or song you are listening to. It is a very cool concept and it made listening to my music collection feel a bit more spontaneous and exciting. My assignment from them was to listen to music in my collection and record 300 spots about stuff I liked. It was fun to do.
Today, I got an email from Kevin, one of their founders, and this is what I saw. Does the voice after the Fall Out Boy track sound familiar?

I don’t know about this concept. I tend to judge to quickly but my first instinct tells me that this would get extremely annoying, like sifting through a maze of ads trying to find a artical in a magazine. I don’t know, I guess I’ll have to give it a try.

Congratulations Scott! Thanks for being an early contributor to SpotDJ, and I’m glad NBC gave you props for your great commentary!
Our goal is to bring the personality back to listening to music by letting people hear from their friends and favorite artists while listening. In a sense we turn media players like iTunes into something more like community radio, with people like Scott as the DJ.
We hope you enjoy it. Please send us your comments and feedback
