I’m in much better spirits this week. Mia is doing 100% better – now we just wait and have her blood re-checked next week to see if the treatment wiped out her liver disease. Thanks to all of you for your heartfelt emails and postings.

Hey Scott,
I agree with you that something seems kinda odd about the 13 year old girl and the dirtbag of the week. However, the story you told about the girl in McDonald’s was a great way to illustrate that you can never really tell how people will react in a situation. 20/20, 48 hours, or one of those shows did a special on that incident with the girl at McDonald’s, where they showed the whole surveillance video of the incident. It was crazy to watch the video unfold, and almost impossible to believe that anyone could think that any police agency would contact someone by phone and tell them to strip search a minor (the managers boyfriend did more than that to the girl when the female manager was out of the office), or anyone for that matter. I guess I’m kinda rambling now, but the point is people do some odd shit that leaves those of us looking in from the outside dumbfounded. So even though it sounds odd, maybe that girl really did think she had no choice but to strip for the pervert.
btw, real happy to hear mia is doing better man!

Hi Scot
I’ve been tuned in for a while now and your mundane clap-trap is so bad I just had to keep an ear open, I keep thinking your a joke, seems your not. How the hell did you get your job as a chat radio show hoast?
If you said “err” once you must have said it a thousand times, mind you, your “err”s are more interesting than your brainless meandering. The one thing you have done is make me realise how lucky we are in GB to have our home grown talent (talent is something your good at) on local radio.

Mick,
I, err, believe it’s spelled “host.”

This isn’t a roast, it’s more like a toast to the host, Scott. Well done, man. Keep on truckin.
I’d like to mention something about the global warming story and hybrid cars. While hybrids are better than gas guzzlers, it is important to note where we get clean, emission-free electricity. Sources for electricity include coal, nuclear, hydroelctric, and natural gas. All of these have different emissions and other issues to consider.

Hi
I’m glad that Mia looks better.
Thanks for the video, she is so lovely with her little ears!

Hey Scott,
I just want so say what a great show you have. Also, just a quick question for anyone out there, what’s with all those assholes who keep leaving comments with how boring, or stupid you are? I mean if you were that bad, why would they listen for a half hour and then leave a comment on your website? Do they think you’ll be like, “Well I guess I really suck, o.k. I think I’ll call it quits?” Hopefully you won’t.
Love the show,
Greg
P.S. It’s great to here that Mia is doing better.

Hey man listen I like your show until you start talking about yourself. This means your dog, your wife, or anything to do with you. I don’t listen to your show to find out how long it took your friend to get your place from Phoenix. Stick to the stories, opinions, and analysis. Not “hey look how great my life is”.
December 7th, 2006 at 5:57 am
Scott, Great show again. So glad to hear your family is doing well. xx
December 7th, 2006 at 5:59 am
What is wrong with people? If you don’t like the show – DON’T LISTEN!!
December 7th, 2006 at 6:25 am
hey hey hey,
This podcast is Scott’s blog and so he has every right to put whatever he wants in it. I find that Scott’s life is as interesting as the stories, part of this show is Scott’s life so if you don’t like it GO AWAY!
December 7th, 2006 at 7:19 am
Amen, Lisa! I couldn’t agree with you more.
It’s funny to me that we always hear about the quality of education in Britain’s schools – clearly Mick didn’t attend.
1. He misspelled your name.
2. When he refers to Scott being a joke, he should have written “you’re,” not “your.”
3. This has already been called out, but it’s “host,” not “hoast.”
4. There are NUMEROUS punctuation errors.
5. Never end sentences in prepositions – it makes you sound simple. (NOTE: Mick – “at” is a preposition).

I was talking to Kim last night about the comments and emails that I get about the show. Overwhelmingly, they are positive (thanks for that). Even if they are negative, most people write or post to tell me what I said that they disagreed with, then they go on to give their educated, well-thought out opinion on a particular matter. That is the type of person I can respect.
I don’t expect everyone that listens to the show to agree with every thought I have all the time. We’d all be a bunch of robots if that were the case. My greatest ambition for the show is that it makes you think for yourself. However, I can’t help but feeling these idiotic put-downs that crop up are masking the bigger issue. My theory is that my political views on something will stir up anger in some, and instead of them preparing a rebuttal based on fact and educated opinion, it takes much less brainpower and intelligence to tell me that I suck, or that I’m a joke, or make fun of the way I speak, or tell me to shut up about my personal life etc. After all, who listens to 30 minutes of something they hate, then heads over to the website and posts about how bad they hated it? Wouldn’t the more normal reaction be to shut it off and move on?
Anyway, that is my theory. What do you all think? Obviously the internet grants a certain amount of anonymity that fosters these types of attacks, but is that and boredom enough to set someone off on rants like this?
Thoughts?

Hi Scott, I have been listening since show 50-something. I pretty much agree with everything you say so I don’t have anything negative to say. I’m really more of an observer than anything else, basically just trying to survive to get through to the next day. I too used to want nothing from this show except for crazy news, but now I don’t mind hearing about your personal life. The show is essentially your verbal self portrait and I always find it interesting to observe how other’s view life and the world in general. I will never understand why people feel the need to go out of their way to insult others. Maybe they are just jealous that they don’t know themselves well enough to express themselves in a positive manner towards others….or maybe they just hate themselves and want attention….who knows and who cares. Let them be their own downfall. Anyway, I love hearing the show every week and I hope you keep it up as long as you can.
Cheers!
John
p.s. I was not insulting those who purposely insult others….I was just merely throwing out some possible reasons for their actions.

I care how long it takes to drive from Phoenix to Scott’s place
For the record, approximately 7 hours with no traffic!

As someone who lives in the UK, and has had to start downloading stuff because local radio is sooooo boring, I’d like to say to Mick – what?
I mean, not everyone on the radio in the UK is terrible, but really, no need for your comments.
And by-the-by – who calls the UK Great Britain any more? The empire is gone my man!
Scott in this case I totally agree with you – there are plenty of things out in the world that I don’t like or agree with. If I think I can make a difference then I put my arguement forward and hope to change things/someones mind. But if its something that just isn’t my cup of tea, or an opinion that I don’t agree with, you just have to accept that everyone’s different and move on. I mean with your show it’s not like you’re harming anyone, or doing anything bad, so if Mick doesn’t like it why rant at you? Waste of his and your time if you ask me.
Love the show – and its v. nice to hear about someone’s daily life on the opposite side of the pond

I randomly caught 8ballradio at the right moment and heard your #75 – freaked me out when I realized you’re from SB (I used to live in SB, was in the bands Poppyseeds, Buck Storm, BitchAss…now live in Seattle.)
Totally agree with the shit you say.
Rock on.
December 7th, 2006 at 10:19 pm
Well said Lisa. I rarely agree with Scott’s political POV, but I still enjoy listening to the show. [Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever agreed with Scott.] Not only is there a freedom of speech, but also a freedom of choice.
What really gets me is when people post a comment in an attempt to throw a low blow and you get rampant spelling errors. Like Scott said several times in 75: “Grow a fucking brain.”
December 8th, 2006 at 11:04 am
Hi, Scott
I just wanted to say that I love your show. As other guys said, I don’t understand why people come to your own site, listen and leave such comments. If they don’t like this show, then it should be any of their business. It’s not like they paid money for it or it comes to the radio.
They themselves found the site, clicked and listened. Is that what you do to look for something that makes you unhappy and say something which degrade yourself?
Hey, mind your own business. Stopping the player is so easy if you don’t like it and don’t bother to come to listen this show.
By the way, I’m glad that Mia is OK.
Keep up the great~
December 9th, 2006 at 12:56 pm
Some people love attention. It seems likely to me that a lot of the comments that I have seen posted recently (including this one), are directing a lot of attention to a few specific negative posts, and perhaps perpetuating them.
I think that the people who post the mindless negative garble on this page are looking for the attention that they know this will bring. Judging by how well articulated all of their thoughts were posted, I would say that those who post these comments are very bright people, and truly an assent to our society (Stef and mick, this is called sarcasm).
I think that this is the only way they know to get attention.
To the handful of people- Everyone is looking at you- now what?
December 10th, 2006 at 11:53 am
I love how you contaminate the air waves with your negative ideals. I know that some of the people that you talk about are total losers, but yu are a drag to listen to. Heck I even want to hang my self listenening to you. I hope you get your jollies off by saying how bad humanity is. I hope you haven’t ever done any thing suspect in your whole life. This early in the morning I sure am glad to listen to your crap. Well I hope you are happy with you down trodden negative reports, but you are a total wet blanket!
December 11th, 2006 at 2:51 am
Hey Scott,
I love the show. Im glad Mia the wonder dog is doing better. I have a dog that sometimes goes through strange intestinal situations and i know how difficult it is to be so helpless in the situation.
Best wishes to you and the family.

Clinton,
Hasn’t your mother ever told you if you don’t have nothing nice to say don’t say anything? All Scott does is report the facts, I know there are stupid people out there all he does is find them for the whole world. So why don’t you stop listening to the show if you hate it so much then?
December 11th, 2006 at 1:25 pm
Scott,
We hope you, Kim, and Mia have a great Christmas!
So HAPPY to hear about Mia… I hope Santa brings her a big stocking this year
December 11th, 2006 at 2:10 pm
Well said Christina!!
Scott, Do let us know if Mia has had her blood test yet.
Thanks.

I’m sick of the u ker’s or whom ever else bitching about global warming. Its gonna happen and quite frankly it won’t do much harm ..just change weather patterns. The earth has been here billions of years …one point to make quickly here …if anything, when fighting global warming we are not saving the earth …just humanity. Man has evolved as the Earth evolved ..when Floods came ..we built Dykes ..when traveling tons of miles we built cars or boats…when fighting battles we built spears than later nukes…get off the horse. Global Warming has no threat to Human Life in my opinion, the earth will evolve anyhow. With that said, what did the Dinosaurs do ..start smoking ..is that how they went extinct? Stop the Global Warming Ideology …sick of hearing it…stop raising taxes ..just evolve with it you can’t stop it..maybe slow it down, but whats the point? Sorry about your dog ..I have 2 huskies but 2 huskies died in my past one got hit by a car and one had a brain anuerism. Life goes on ..no biggie. I think animals are great especially when your in a isolated lifestyle with no wife or kids …someone or something there makes a big deal. Im not a huge cliche fan, but here and there I’ll listen to it ..since its only weekly ..its a if thingy. Well just felt sick of hearing about global warming …laters

Great arguments, Paul. Way to support your claims with hard evidence.

Um…yeah…dirtbags of the week..
December 19th, 2006 at 8:55 am
i disagree with u, paul. maybe globle warming doesn’t affect u too much but it bothers me a lot! here in where i live, it’s crazy hot when summer comes, you might argued: stay in the room where has air conditioning! but u cant always be in the room and not go outside, can u? when i was a kid, fans were enough to cool u down, but now the weather kills u without a air con!
winter is shortened to only a few days and new year is not cold any more, by the way!
think about it!
