This is a short clip I took last night. She was looking a bit better. Unfortunately, she got worse today and is back in the hospital. The vet thinks she has liver disease but we’ll know more when the blood tests come back tomorrow.

I am so so so sorry to hear about Mia. I realize you don’t know me from Fred or Adam, but I can completely sympathize. I lost my dog in May from something different – osteosarcoma, but my parents lost their first Scottie as a result of liver disease. I wanted to let you know that he initially presented with the same symptoms and that our vet, Dr. Swenson, treated him with not only doggy meds – but also Vitamin E and Pepsid AC. If I recall correctly, that added on another year and a half before he went downhill. I hope this helps.

    Kelly,

Thanks so much for your post. It’s nice to know that other people out there have dealt with the same types of losses.

    Thanks again,
    Scott

Very, very sorry to hear about Mia. I’m new to the show (caught it for the first time last week), but it’s evident that she is a part of your family. I have 2 dogs, both about 8 yrs old and both pound puppies.

Anyway, one of my dogs in a previous life had a tumor on her liver and we made the decision to have it removed. It wasn’t cancer, but it was causing her some problems. She was about 12 at the time and looking back, I don’t know if I would have made the same choice. She only lived for about a week after the surgery and the quality of her life at that point was not good.

I guess my point is, yeah, it’s tough to know where to draw the line. I console myself by knowing that while she was here, she had a kickass life.

Good luck. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that it turns out to be nothing.
By the way, those ears are fabulous!
