I'm surprised to hear about Vonage and I can't believe Vonage Canada is better. I've been with Vonage Canada for a while. Maybe over a year. I had a slight problem setting it up and called them (with the old phone line) and they were quick in helping. I don't have to call them often, but their web site says support is available 24/7. The few times I have had to call, it's been quick and painless. I only have two problems with the service and one is due to my Internet Provider and not Vonage. The other problem is that I can't call some toll-free numbers because it's Vonage Canada and routed through Vonage US. I still recommend it, but I guess maybe I should point out I'm using Vonage Canada.

Russ,

Great strategy. However, it's a sad day when we have to act this way in order for companies NOT to screw us...

Sorry I didn't get this info to you sooner. I had the same shitty service from Vonage. But, anticipating some bullshit charges, before I cancelled I changed all of my personal contact info including a credit card that could not be charged to. So when the conversation went the same direction yours did i calmly agreed with the charges and got the last laugh! Never heard from them again. Fuck you Vonage!!!

I actually had a good experience with Apple recently too. A month or so ago, the feed for the show got hosed and they were able to fix it within a couple days.

Glad to see someone is still providing service to their customers!

I have a GOOD customer service story...

I had inadvertently bought the wrong version of an album on iTunes. The "clean" instead of "explicit" version.

I wrote to them explaining my mistake and they responded with a refund.

Yeah thanks for the tip man!! i was about to get vonage but now iam definetly not getting it... oh and also about the car issue my parents had something like that happen to them... to make a long story short they first bought a nissan frontier and then they decided that they could not make the payments on it (i guess they did not do their math correctly) and so they went back to the dealer to ask what could be done and the guy told them to stop making the payments and that the back would take the truck from are house and just drop the loan!!!! and so they tricked them into buying a smaller car so that the payments would be much lower!!! so my mom called the bank and told them to come pick up the car and the lady told her that they would put the truck in an action and what ever the truck would sell for that was what was going to be subtracted from the loan...and as we all know usually trucks sell really cheap in an action so now we are stuck with the truck and a car..... it sucks how these guys take advantage of people that dont know much...cause my parents dont speak english and the guy made them feel good by talking to them in spanish and they just felt like he was telling them the truth and they trusted him.......

Thanks for the Vonage tip. What a scam. One thing though, do the terms of service expressly say you may get shitty service? If not, read all of the marketing BS and see if they imply quality on par with regular phone service. You may have a legitimate complaint that they were in breach of their contract with you for the poor quality of service they provided and therefore the terms of service agreement you signed is invalidated. Also, dig around with Google for class action suits against them. When you speak to Vonage you should ask them for all of their names and job titles (ask them to spell their names too and make it sound like you are writing it down carefully), and tell them you are providing a complete audit trail of your troubles to one of the specific suits. Send them email drafts of your registration with a suit--even if you do not join a suit, pretend you are.

This is all a lot of trouble but companies like Vonage are depending on people like you to just drop the matter. These are bad companies and they should be held accountable.
