It seems like there was a lot of dirtbag’s on today’s show.. lol. It’s sad that we even have to have a segment devoted to sick people isn’t it?
Great show, loved it.

Scott,
Obviously GB is over 40 so “the Google” is a typical misspoken term used by “old” people. I remember when I first discovered the internet my parents didn’t know anything about it and called it different things than what it should be. I’m sure GB has his own “google” of people. I loved the rant about the yeild sign and the slow guy. I really feel that since i’ve moved into the chicago land area….damn traffic. Keep up the good work. Love the show.
Thanks,
Chad

Jason had the week off. Rest assured, he’ll be back. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Great show! It’s nice to hear something different. Regarding Mia’s growl, I have recently become an avid “Dog Whisperer” viewer, which is a show on the National Geographic Channel. If you have not seen the show, it is pretty amazing. The guy can “rehabilitate” any dog, and I mean ANY dog. I will try and approach your problem from the knowledge I have gained by watching this guy. Dogs are part of the animal kingdom. In their kingdom, there is the pack leader and everyone else. Your dog thinks it is the pack leader.
Your wife is challenging your dogs authority by putting the leash on it, and also setting limitations on your dog. Your dog sees this as a threat, and is attempting to assert her pack leader status by claiming her spot on the couch. Your dog doesn’t growl at you because you do not threaten her pack leader status…as you said, you let her run around and do whatever (or something like that). It is very hard to train a dog to be calm and submissive without achieving pack leader status. Getting to the solution, ideally, you both need to be the pack leader, or your wife needs to fall in line with the dogs wishes. (If you watch the show, you will see what I mean. It doesn’t mean “abuse your dog.”)
Disclaimer : I’m not recommending any course of action, but rather trying to tell you what I think the problem is.
It’s crazy…maybe it’s just the magic of TV, but the Dog Whisperer seems to know the psyche of any dog, and is able to reach them. I know from experience, it is much harder in practice.
If you look at your problem from this perspective, you will see that most households have dogs that are the pack leader. Your problem is a problem that most households develop over time because we, as Americans, treat dogs like people, and not like animals.

#1 Your rants are very hypocritical this week being that you critisize people, like Bush and Limbaugh, for critisizing others. By insulting them and their integrity before talking about them insulting others, shows that you areno better than them.
#2 Are you aware that Stem-cell Research for humans CANNOT be done without testing humans and creating new people to see how it works. If you rememebr Dolly the sheep that we “created” with cloning from the same process that would have to take place for this research to become complete was “created” and died from complications more than 150 times before one lived more than one day and even then they admitted to not knowing what worked this time and not the rest. Organs cannot be created without people and harvesting people cannot be done without losses and in this case hugue losses. Support demands knowledge.
Thank you.

Dave,
I didn’t criticize Bush for criticizing others. I criticized him for being out of touch with the everyday world. As far as Limbaugh goes, I would hardly call what he did “criticizing others.” I would calling it bashing a man afflicted with Parkinson’s disease for nothing other than political posturing.

Bill,
Thanks for your analysis on Mia’s growl. I have watched the Dog Whisperer and agree, Caesar is a master with dogs. I think that Mia sees me as the pack leader in the house that is why she never challenges me and listens to whatever I ask her to do. I think we need to work at getting her to see Kim as the pack leader.

Nam-mib-bia.
And don’t bet your left nut. Trust me, it’s a bad idea.

I just stumbled on to your show for the first time today. Loved it! Since I am not yet 40, I Googled you and came upon your website.
Dave’s post has cause me some angst, and as such, I had to put in my two cents, too. In some ways, I think he is funny because he used the words integrity and Limbaugh in adjacent sentences. In others, he obviously does not have much knowledge of the world of medical research because he is dead wrong. There most certainly are ways to perform stem-cell research without testing humans and creating new people to see how it works. Additionally, those crazy research professionals have come up with ways to take different types of cells – from consenting adults – and manipulate their DNA so that they can be grown in the lab, out of a person, and tested. They’re called cell lines and they come in 1000s of flavors. I’m sure that I am stating the obvious, but organs are a group of cells that work together to perform specific functions. So where Dave is somewhat correct in that an organ can’t be created without a person, a person does not have to be “harvested” and huge losses do not have to be sustained in order to learn more about human diseases and how to treat them.

I don’t see the big deal about bush saying “The Google” does it really matter? He added “The” in front of it, he doesn’t have to be a tech user to be the President.
October 29th, 2006 at 6:45 am
Namìbia. The stress is on the first “i”.
October 29th, 2006 at 5:12 pm
Mike, yes it does matter. He is the President of the United States. He should know and yes he should be a tech user. He is the leader of this country and he should be in touch with the rest of us. I mean come on if he doesn’t know about the “modern world” then he shouldn’t be President. This proves how much he shouldn’t be president.
October 30th, 2006 at 6:44 am
You can’t be serious about Bush? Just because he is our President, Bush needs to own an iPod, be registered with FaceBook, and sell things on EBay? He has more important things to do then to worry about “pop” culture and terms that will change in the near future anyways. He has more college education then most of his bashers and the PhDs here in Chicago at least are the ones saying he is doing a pretty good job with this hassle. Lets make Christina president and see how far knowledge of the “modern world” will really get you.
October 30th, 2006 at 8:22 am
Doug,
For the record, Bush does own an iPod.
And while Bush may not need to be a registered user with My Space, Facebook, or eBay, he does need to have some idea of what they mean in today’s world. If you look at a large portion of the issues facing kids today, it involves safety issues around My Space and other sites like it. In fact, several pieces of legislation have been drawn up around issues with online pornography, My Space, pedophilia etc. How does a government preside over laws if they don’t understand the circumstances in which they are applied? Google is hardly a fringe technology concept.
Oh, and as far as his education, I don’t think I have ever seen a more average academic president in my lifetime. Look up his grades at Yale and Harvard, they were less than stellar. Calling Bush an academic is like saying he was war-hero fighter pilot. I don’t think the “smarts” card is one that I would play on this particular fellow.

Doug,
I don’t want to be president. Thank you for your vote though! All I was saying how is a man who is the leader of the United States understand what the average people go though? What problems they really face? He if he dosen’t know it as Goggle and as the google how will he understand modern issues that face children today and be able to keep them safe?

You are an idiot.
Only adult stem cells have shown any potential in helping people.
ALSO if there were any potential in infant stem cells don’t you think
private funding would be going through the roof? That is why they
want free government money…because infant stem cells have no value
to helping people.
ALSO Bush is the FIRST president to allow any stem cell research
to happen. Not even your god Clinton approved it. At least Bush
allowed testing on existing stem cells. But you wouldn’t know that.
As a on air person I would think you would educate yourself before
talking through your ass.

Daniel – YOU are the idiot. The reason for the huge debate on stem cell research is because embryonic stem cells are the untouchables. The only way to get them is by killing a developing fetus at the blastula stage. FYI - and infant stem cell is different from an embryonic stem cell. Another FYI - there is huge private funding for embryonic stem cell research. It has to be private because the government will not fund it. The reason why – the current administration is pro-life and believe that creating blastulas to obtain embryonic stem cells is the same thing as aborting a fetus.
Additionally, as an individual posting such an obnoxious, unresearched response to this string of comments, I would think you would proofread what you have to say.
