Just About There…
If you’re one of those people that couldn’t give a tiny rat’s ass about my personal life, then move on – there is nothing to see here. However, if you listen to the show and check the site because you are curious about my (mostly) uneventful little world, then you can feel free to keep reading. I post this warning in the hopes that I don’t bore you to death.
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, I am happy to report that Kim and I are mostly settled into our new place at the beach. Its been a tough road, but it’s worth it. We got up at 3:30 AM (12:30 PT) on Monday to catch our 6:00 AM flight. After a relatively painless travel day, we landed in Santa Barbara at 1:30 PM. We then proceeded to pick up our Uhaul and head to our Condo. We packed and loaded the truck until about 8:00. After cleaning the carpets and mopping the floors we opted against our original plan of sleeping on the floor on an air mattress and instead got a hotel room. That decision paid off in spades as we were rested and ready to move on Tuesday morning. After a full day of moving stuff from the truck, then 200 steps to the building, up three floors in a small elevator, and then another 100 steps to our door, we were exhausted. Yesterday Kim stayed home and did a ton of unpacking and as of now we’re in really good shape.
Now that we’ve gotten settled we just need to stock the place with food and find a place for everything. There is also the process of finding those little neighborhood spots like the grocery store, the best pizza place, cheapest gas, quickest route to get to work. You get the idea. That’s part of the adventure for me. After months of needing a change, I feel like we are back where we want to be, and that is a good feeling.
This weekend I am looking forward to getting some sushi at Arigoto, going to the Palace for a Cajun martini, and heading to Madison’s on Sunday morning to watch the Patriots beat the Bills. Oh, and if you happen to find yourself walking on East Beach in Santa Barbara and you see a guy with a shaved head walking the cutest dog you’ve ever seen, it might be me. Stop and say hello.
