Happy Solstice!
Happy summer to you all! This week marks the beginning of sun, beaches, BBQ’s, and vacations for many of you. Here in Santa Barbara it means all those things, but more importantly, it means one of the biggest parties of the year. While Santa Barbara frequently finds new and inventive excuses to throw a party, Fiesta (which is the first week in August) and Solstice are the two biggies. Basically Solstice starts with a parade on lower State Street and heads up until it turns off into Alemeda Park. It is one of two times of the year it is not only socially acceptable, but you are otherwise encouraged to drink beer at 9 AM with your breakfast.
Why am I telling you all this? Well, as I do every year, I will be downtown taking part in the festivities. If any of you reading this are going to be in town and participating, please email me. I’d love to meet up and buy you a drink! The disclaimer to this is that if 200 of you email me demanding a free drink, I might have to re-think my plan. However, I can’t imagine (a) that many of you reside in SB and (b) that many of you that do live in SB will see this post in the next 20 hours.
Even if you are not in town celebrating Solstice, I hope that your summer is kicking off in a big way and that you get to spend some time with loved ones and enjoy a cold beverage.
I’ll talk to you guys on Sunday for the Rewind and on Tuesday night for a new A.C.

Just a warning Scott, The Solstice is a PAGAN holiday. As such I think it was outlawed as soon as the Patriot Act went into effect. Just talking about it is likely to get you put on a list as a potential terrorist (maybe me too), if you actually attend I guess you’ll be doing your recordings from Guantanamo.
Have Fun!

Hey Chris,
I had no idea it was a pagan holiday. I thought it was simply the celebration of Summer. I guess I just pissed off my base of right-wing-Christians by attending…
Does anyone remember the movie remake of “Dragnet” back in the 80’s? The acronym for P.A.G.A.N. stood for something like “People Against Good and Nice.” I don’t know what made me think of think of that, but I always thought that was funny.

Dude… having major problems getting your show to play. I get the “Error opening file” message… What Gives???
In South African “Coloured/Mixed Race” slang we would say “WhatKind Ekse!”.
Sharp,
Zinto.. (cheers)
