Did I miss something in this thread? Who said anything about family law court being fair or unfair? Granted, I realize it's been like 4 months since I recorded this show, but I don't recal saying anything about family law in relation to this.... hmmm

If you think the Family Law court is fair, you have never had the experiences of a man in the system. Local Family law courts deal with divorces and is so gender biased. Most of the people in that system operate as if nobody is watching. How about spending some time interviewing men who have been churned and burned.

that's the problem joe.....PEOPLE SHOULDN'T CARE, like the President and other leaders of countries...but they do! Here lies the problem to begin with. If we don't care about other people's issues, then we will be somewhat naive to what's really going on in the world we live in. Gay people are normal people who are attracted to the same sex, why does there have to be laws prohibiting them from certain things. Its pretty much the same things as when black people and women couldn't vote because of who they were.
When enough people care about something and do something about it, shit changes, just look at our history. It doesn't happy overnight, by any means, but without good ol Abe ( a white man at that ) how long might have slavery been going on? What if he just turned around and said, "i shouldn't worry about it because i'm white and it doesn't directly affect me" Seriously.... you might want to open your mind to the idea that talking about issues surrounding gay/lesbians by straight people, isn't a bad thing. It's PEOPLE standing up for other PEOPLE'S rights that they should be given. That is why America was founded on...not people turning their backs on others...just for sake of not talking about it. It's 2006 we talk about everything.

Scott,

I agree with you on the issue of kids in a restaurant, the kids don't bother me as much as seeing the parents not taking care of them. Ok I don't have children, and taking care of a little brother is not the same, but when I with him, I try to take him to places he will like (some place where he can have fun, without bothering other people while we eat) . My husband and I choose not to have children and I don't think that it's a requirement for married couples to have them, but sometimes people make you feel like -hey if you don't have kids you don't know what it's like- , ok i get that, but I know about good maners and beeing polite, my parents taught me that. Some parents said "they are children" as an excuse, but they are their children, not mine, so I don't whant them around my table running, specially when we are paying more then 25 dlls. for a meal. If I pay anything less for a meal I know I will have to deal with kids crying or shouting, but I know, I expected, so there's no problem. But if you are in a nice restaurant, and you paying for it, you deserve to have your nice dinner.
Thanks

Joe,

It's not a waste of time for me. I have lots of friends in my life that are gay and if it affects their life, then it affects me. We all want the people we care about to be happy and have the same freedoms that you and I have, right? For me this ISN'T a waste of time. If we don't take a stand, where does it stop? Look back to the civil rights movement and segragation...if those brave people didn't take a stand where would be in terms of race in this country? Granted, we have a long way to go, but would you say that I shouldn't care about racial equality because I'm white?

I do appreciate your comments and I'm glad that you take the time to post your opinion so we can have a discussion. Thanks to all of you for posting your thoughts.

Ok basically discussing and debating that whole gay topic IS a waste of time if it doesnt directly affect you. I mean, gays are normal people just like you and me, so who cares what they do right? I feel its only embarassing them more...well I wouldnt call it embarassing if they are comfortable with their sexuality, but lets just say bringing more attention to them than needed. And Scott, sometimes giving a shit about each other...especially people we dont even know personally...cause alot more problems..but hey, we all have our opinions right? and I respect everything you say. Just a friendly discussion right? =) Pc**

Scott,

Just heard your show for the first time on iTunes. I'll be adding it to my podcast list. Thanks!

I fully agree with you about kids in public. Parents are responsible and need to know it before they drop their drawers. Sometimes we all need reminders though and the restaurant should have stepped up and _discreetly_ asked them to get it under control. Parenting and service are both slipping badly these days.

On the other hand, did you say something to the restaurant? From your description it certainly sounds like the kind of place that isn't appropriate for kids, but if you didn't say something to them, how are they going to know that your experience was negative? Now they can't do anything about it.

Looking forward to hearing some more interesting news and rants. Thanks.

Salude dude!

The whole gay subject is frustratuing to me. I am not gay at all, nor are ANY of my friends or family members, but I'm from Canada where gay marriage was just made legal by our government a couple years ago. Let me note that our then Prime Minister was roughly 67 years old at the time, an old fashioned man as I could see, and even he could see past the fact that 2 people in love are gay, and that they deserve the right to be happy and engage in marriage. So what is wrong with that? I don't know, but ask our new Prime Minister Stephen Harper who is probably about 45 (my guess), who wants to over-turn the new ruling. I vote for leaving the gay community alone on the marriage issue. Let them marry, let them be happy, they are people just like the rest of us, with a heart, a brain and life.

Scott, I'm a new listener, just stumbled across your show at work the other day. I'm hooked already, keep up the good work pal!

Cheers, from Canada...

SOOOOOO.....based on that logic....only gay people should be able to make decisions about gay topics? or only gay people should be able to talk about gay topics? I don't understand.

Maybe the war shouldn't should affect us, if we aren't actually over there fighting it, i guess we can't have an opinion about it. Or maybe huge topics like racism shouldn't affect us unless we're a direct victim of it....again...i don't understand where you are coming from Joe....

Kids don't have a choice about saying the Pledge anymore, its been BANNED in most states. Hell, in most schools you can't even say a prayer at graduation. I'm surprised they haven't taken "in god we trust" off of our money yet...i'm sure its been talked about.

Joe,

That's the problem with the world - people think if it doesn't affect them directly then they shouldn't bother discussing or debating it. I think if we gave a shit more about each other and the issues that we face then we'd all be better off.

Oh, and it's only 5 minutes...I have it to spare.

I honestly can't believe you would want to bring up this subject again...it's pretty simple, gay people will be gay and thats that. No one should have control over their life is the way I see it, so Scott, please spare the 5min of talking about gays on the next show please =) As for "One Nation Under God," the kids that don't want to say...simply don't have to...so lets try and not make this a huuge deal. Shouldnt affect you right? ....erg, unless your gay...anyways I LOVE your show Scott, your doing a great job with it. Pc**

Melissa,

Don't even get me started on this whole Amendment stuff. Wasn't Bush's whole campaign platform that government should be smaller and not interfere in individual state issues? I guess that when the states don't do what he wants them to do, this is the next step.

I will talk about this more on this week's show.

I know this has nothing to do with your current show, but I'm furious right now. I'm reading on CNN.com about why gays can't get married yet again, and AGAIN i'm confused. If this country is founded on the bible and Christianity, then why has prayer been taken out of the schools, why can't we say God Bless You without offending someone, why can't be have the 10 commandments displayed in public? I just can't fathom how we can be such hippocrites on this. Don't quote scripture to me about Jesus says marriage is One Man and One Woman and then take the Pledge of Alligence out of my childrens school because it says One Nation Under God...
I think we are living in 2006 where men and men and women and women should be able to like happily (and unhappily) just like the men and women that are currently getting married for the wrong reasons. Lets put the smack down on the adulterers in the world, where are the bible pushers quoting scriptures on them in front of the city county buildings, i gurantee there are more men and women waltzing into the marriage lines who are not following the word of God and no one is saying shit about it.

What is the problem with letting people be happy? There are so many laws in this and other countries that keep us from doing things, give people the right to love one another and marry. Not everyone believes in the same God this country was founded on. Hell, is God even allowed in this country without written permission...

I am still really surprised that the restaurant allowed them to behave how they did. Do you think that having this dining experience would deter you from going there again? I was just wondering because you mentioned that this hasn't happened there before--I guess it may depend on the degree of irritance.

I would forward to next week!

Hey!

Today I listend to your show the first time and I think it is really amazing!

But I have to say something to the Fifa WM in Germany: It is annoying! Everywhere advertisment, fan articles and even songs. You can't do anything without being reminded that it is WM. It's terrible!

Greetings from Germany

Hey

I was listening to the clip of Kai [Hope i spelt it right] And the England team for this world cup will probably fail. But, i say this because the TV is full of crap for "Support england"! I saw one car with four England flags on! I mean, whats the point? One little flag does not support your team, it just gives the industry more money, and when we lose real early, they will be so pissed at being ripped off!

I agree, my wife and I always called ourselves "kid magnets." We sometimes go to a nice restaurant maybe not as expensive as 200 bucks a pop, but still sushi can get pretty expensive. It is nice to go and have sushi, and a nice bottle of imported beer. There is nothing worse than kids being sit right next to me who cannot sit still! Drives me crazy. Anyway, I think there are places that are appropriate (Chuckie cheeze) that are very kid friendly for kids to have dinner and enjoy themselves.
