Just a Little Patience
I really do try to have patience, but it’s something that I’ve struggled with for most of my life. When I was kid I would start bugging my Mom about my Birthday six weeks out. Once Thanksgiving hit, I was in a Christmas frenzy. As a psuedo-adult I’ve learned to get past those particular examples, but I still lack patience. For example, This week I ordered some new equipment for my studio and even though the vendors have been perfectly reasonable in sending out my orders on time, I have this little part of my brain that irrationally wonders ‘why can’t they just hop on a plane and deliver it to me today?’ Additionally, I have been patiently waiting for an update on the “big news” that I have been torturing you all with over the last few weeks and I can’t get a response from the big-news-people. Dammit, don’t they know that I’m supposed to be the center of their universe?
In all seriousness, I need to just chill out and relax. There are people with much bigger problems in the world than the bullshit minutiae that I’m rambling about. I really do try and remember that as I fight the urge to berate the UPS man for not bringing my package today. Besides, good things come to those who wait (hey, the show is called American Cliche for a reason).
On a final unrelated note, thanks to all of you that have been writing me emails in support of my speaking delivery style. Interestingly, a lot of you have said it actually makes the show seem more personal to you. I was surprised by that, but I’m happy it has that effect. The vast majority of you have told me not to let the few criticisms get me down and that I should tell these people to go screw…so I think I’ll take your advice. Thanks for being my security blanket on this one.
If I don’t speak to you, I hope you all have a great weekend. For those living in the U.S, happy Memorial Day!
