I Think We Did it!
After some nail-biting, extensive trial and error, and some help from Brian, I think the transition went pretty well. The feed is up and running correctly. All the posts and links were moved over manually to the new servers and they are working as planned. I was worried that many of you had an old rss feed setup as your subscription, but judging from the stats, that isn’t as much of a concern as I thought it might be. One thing I did notice is what has been long suspected by many in the podcasting community – iTunes does cache your feeds. When I moved the site I only kept shows 15-19 in the feed. However, if you look in iTunes you’ll see they have all but four shows listed out of 19. It’s not really a big deal, but it is interesting.
This week the plan is to get another show out on Wednesday. If you’re like me, you’ll need something to listen to over the Holiday weekend as a break from some of the family stuff that goes along with Thanksgiving. Remember, American Cliche and a big glass of red wine are the perfect holiday stress relief combo!
Thanks again for your patience during this move. Hopefully this will be the beginning of long and stable relationship with our new hosting company!
